Smoke Synopsis: UPDATED
|
||||
High pressure will linger over
the area through the end of the work week. A slight shift in the ridge will
allow temperatures to ease back down into the 90s later in the week. Short-range
expect light and variable winds with upslope/downslope diurnal pattern
dominating. Look for more smoke to be visible coming from within the fire
perimeters as fire activity continues to increase. Smoke will settle into
low-lying/valley areas overnight and lifting out with daytime heating. Models
are pointing towards the possibility of mid-level moisture making its way
into the area by the weekend with the potential of some isolated
thunderstorms and dry lightning.
Due to an increase in instability over the fires the Chiwaukum
Complex became more active than anticipated. Several smoke plumes are visible
and smoke is pushing north towards the areas of Twisp and Winthrop. Smoke
from the Chiwaukum Complex could potentially combine with smoke from the
Carlton Complex leading to moderate overnight impacts. Overnight downslope/
down-canyon winds may push more smoke in to the Leavenworth area causing heavier
impacts that may be unhealthy for sensitive groups.
