Smoke Synopsis:
|
||||
Not much change from
yesterday, high pressure will linger over the area through the end of the week.
A slight shift in the ridge will allow temperatures to ease back down into
the 90s later in the week. Short-range expect light and variable winds with upslope/downslope
diurnal pattern dominating. Look for more smoke to be visible coming from
within the fire perimeters as fire activity continues to increase. Smoke from
columns will settle into low-lying/valley areas overnight and lifting out with
daytime heating. Models are pointing towards the possibility of mid-level
moisture making its way into the area by the weekend with the potential of some
isolated thunderstorms and dry lightning.

Air Quality Advisory - Thursday 11 am
Wenatchee & Chelan “Good”
Leavenworth “Unhealthy”
When air quality is in the “Unhealthy” range everyone is at risk of being affected by the smoke. Outdoor physical activities should be cancelled.
At this point everyone should limit exposure to outside air and do not do anything that would increase your breathing rate, people should avoid any exertion. It is best to stay indoors if you have asthma, diabetes, lung or heart disease, have a respiratory infection, or have had a stroke. Infants, pregnant women and people over 65 should also stay indoors. Symptoms can include headache, dizziness, wheezing and shortness of breath. The general population can experience these symptoms.
· In your vehicle use the recycle mode on your interior air system.
· If possible, go to an area unaffected by the wildfire smoke until the smoke clears, especially if you are having symptoms like headaches, dizziness or nausea or having increased respiratory symptoms like shortness of breath.
· Keep windows closed.
· Interior air purifiers with HEPA filters can help clean the air in your home.
· Limit time outdoors.
· If you are having significant problems talk to your health care provider.

Smoke Synopsis: UPDATED

High pressure will linger over
the area through the end of the work week. A slight shift in the ridge will
allow temperatures to ease back down into the 90s later in the week. Short-range
expect light and variable winds with upslope/downslope diurnal pattern
dominating. Look for more smoke to be visible coming from within the fire
perimeters as fire activity continues to increase. Smoke will settle into
low-lying/valley areas overnight and lifting out with daytime heating. Models
are pointing towards the possibility of mid-level moisture making its way
into the area by the weekend with the potential of some isolated
thunderstorms and dry lightning.
Due to an increase in instability over the fires the Chiwaukum
Complex became more active than anticipated. Several smoke plumes are visible
and smoke is pushing north towards the areas of Twisp and Winthrop. Smoke
from the Chiwaukum Complex could potentially combine with smoke from the
Carlton Complex leading to moderate overnight impacts. Overnight downslope/
down-canyon winds may push more smoke in to the Leavenworth area causing heavier
impacts that may be unhealthy for sensitive groups.
