This is because Ecology believes their method of calculating the air quality category (i.e. “Good”, “Moderate”, Unhealthy” etc) is more protective of public health in Washington. 7/22/2015 Blue Creek Fire sending smoke to Clarkston/Lewiston area

The most active fire in Washington - the Blue Creek fire east of Walla Walla - is sending smoke east/northeast towards Clarkston and into Idaho.  Air quality impacts at the monitor in Clarkston have not exceeded Moderate so far.
